Rustic Deer Themed Christmas Tree for Front Porch

HometoCottage.com Rustic Deer Themed Christmas Tree

This is part 2 of 3 creating a Merry Christmas welcome on the front porch… Once the summer wicker furniture was moved off the porch to protect it from the winter snow, I decided to add this Christmas tree to the front porch. A rustic deer themed Christmas tree, sounded fun! Here are a few tips and an unconventional Christmas tree stand.

In part 1 of this 3 part series, I showed you the triple wreaths on the front door with plaid ribbon and black deer details… carrying on that rustic theme with deer details, this tree was so much fun to decorate!

Actually the only plaid on the tree is the bow at the top, but it’s a very bold plaid ribbon and just the right amount to connect with the door.

Isn’t this glittery deer tree topper fun? I found it at:

I decorated this Christmas tree more like a floral arrangement than a traditionally decorated Christmas tree. And of course since it is outside and will get wind etc. everything needed to be wired on. (Although the tree itself is a fake tree and the branches seemed to come out kinda easily from the center trunk… this is my 1st experience with a fake tree like this, so if you’re in the neighborhood and see fake evergreen branches blowing around in the snowbank, grab them for me!)

For the center focal point, I used this rustic deer sign, it’s hard to see in this picture, but in the center of the sign, with metallic gold lettering it says “joy to the world” Then flanking 2 corners of the sign, there are 2 more glittery deer, wired on to the tree.

After the center sign was wired onto the tree, and with the addition of a couple of long red berry twigs and faux ice branches along with a few large burlap poinsettia flowers it’s just the right amount of decoration for this rustic deer themed Christmas tree for the front porch.

For the Christmas tree stand…

I used this antique wood holder. The tree fit in just perfect using 3 of the 4 legs on the stand. I added a screw to the back of the box on the top and wrapped a wire around it and the trunk to secure the tree a little more. The box is heavy and very sturdy, so I think this will withstand the wind and prevent it from tipping over very nicely.

Plus, it looks so darn cute! I actually tried to sell this wood bin this Spring, (wrong time of the year to try to sell a wood holder) but after a couple weeks with little interest I pulled the ad off, and now I’m so glad it didn’t sell!

The large rustic wood and metal lanterns in front of the tree have little electric flicker candles (on a timer) with a few greens and glittery snowflakes, and are such a warm welcome at dusk. (which happens here around 4:30 now!)

Oh and if you’re wondering about the nativity scene we had up here last year, it felt just a little too cumbersome for the porch, so instead we’ve set it up in the front yard, I’m still working on a few changes for it… I hope to share that with you soon too.
