Recently, in the ‘Neighborhood Tours’ I introduced you to Bayfield, WI, a tiny town nestled at the top of the state on the shores of Lake Superior, where we drove last week, to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary, just by spending some simple, quiet time together in this quaint little town.
The town sits on the steep wooded hills of Wisconsin and comes down to a point at the shores of Lake Superior. With several churches, the woods and skyline are sprinkled with steeples.
This antique red stone church with the water behind it is a beautiful view.
Even though the town of Bayfield is only 487 people, there is a lot going for it! Besides the super fun Apple-fest the 1st weekend of October, where thousands of people crowd the town to partake of ‘apple festivities’, there is this cute old library. I was impressed to see this little town has a library. And how cute it is.
This is the building for ‘The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Headquarters’. It looks so similar to my elementary school I went to when I was a little girl. I really wonder what the original use of this building was.
It seems to be really well taken care of and is in beautiful condition. I love the handsomeness of those antique massive red stones.
There were several churches, but I only captured a couple on my camera. This one was so charming, I couldn’t get over it.
That doorway is so pretty… I think I’ll just let the picture say the words for me.
I have one more post coming up on Bayfield, WI, that one will be featuring some of the houses, inns and cottages.
